The China Studies Network is a functional network which aims to create stronger communication and dialogue amongst those engaged in all fields who are hoping to produce fresh and innovative research on China. The China Studies Network aims to promote greater dialogue and research on the Chinese nation. The primary focus is to bring to the fore new and innovative research mainly on but not limited to Chinese political and economic issues; the Network wants to encourage research on China in every discipline. The Network intends to become central to all scholars of China to accrue and challenge their understanding of the area. It will bring together students and researchers from across the United Kingdom, by targeting students, either studying or researching about China, and senior scholars, who can use the Network to expand their current research areas.

Whose work are we looking for?
-A current student at any UK university; Enrolled on an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral programme
-Individuals who are enthusiastic to present a new and innovative research on China
- Individuals who are keen in further strengthening relationship between UK and China by providing fresh insights into the study of China
 
The Benefits:
-This is an excellent role for a graduate seeking to set out on a career in China area studies.
-The Network is a great platform to present your work to governmental policy makers globally.
 
Interested?
-Initially send a one-page summary of the topic you want to submit.
-Please clearly state which area of the five you are assessing:
1) Politics, 2) Economics, 3) Environment, 4) Science & Technology, 5) Business
 
-This is a rolling system and papers will be changed every month; five will be selected to be displayed on the website per month.

3) SPEAKERS FOR THE LAUNCH EVENT AT CHATHAM HOUSE, THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

On the 26th March 2012, 15.30-18.00 the Network will be holding a Launch Event. This will involve three speakers who will discuss different areas of China.
 
Do you want to be a speaker at Chatham House for the Launch?
 
We are seeking speakers to present at the launch event. Students should be studying about China in any of the following areas:
1) Politics, 2) Economics, 3) Environment, 4) Science & Technology, 5) Business
 
Who are we looking for:
 
-A current student at any UK university
- Enrolled on an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral programme
-Enthusiastic to present a new and innovative research on China
- Keen in further strengthening relationship between UK and China by providing new insights into the study of China
-Although a degree in Chinese studies or Chinese is not necessary, but it is important for the student to have a special focus on studying China and be a specialist in the area you are proposing to present at the launch event.
 
The Benefits:
-This is an excellent role for a graduate seeking to set out on a career in China area studies.
-A great opportunity to present at the UK’s top think-tank, Chatham House.
-The speaker will receive speaking training from Dr Kerry Brown, Head of the Asia Programme at Chatham House.
